No Doubt

Dear Friends,

Over the years I have kept a list of verses and quotes that have encouraged me at one time or another. It’s been a great resource for me to go back to when things have been challenging, or when I’ve needed reminding of Who God is, and how He works. And right at the top of that list is one of my favorite quotes from evangelist Billy Graham, which says, “Never doubt in the dark what God told you in the light.”

I love this quote because it reminds me that our circumstances, or our actions, cannot change the character of God. So, regardless of our situation, or the mistakes we make, or how we feel, or the sin we fall into, or what others do to us, or the challenges we face, God’s character is unchanging. That means His grace is still in full force. It means He is still good; He’s still with us; He still loves us; He knows what we’re going through; He still cares; and He still has a good plan for our lives.

Isaiah 40:28 puts it like this, “Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.” God is the everlasting God - He does not change, and He won’t grow tired - no matter what.

This truth is so important for us to remember, because - as we’ve all experienced - our circumstances and our emotions can change in an instant. That means if we make decisions and live our lives by what’s going on around us, or what’s going on inside of us, we can be easily overcome. So today, not matter what we’re facing, and no matter what we’re feeling, let’s remember what God has told us. Let’s hold on to the truth of God’s character and nature, as we remind ourselves of what we know to be eternally true about our loving God to whom we belong.

Amen?

Daniel
